Embracing Love and Understanding: A Day at SOLEIL LEVANT Reception Center

The SOLEIL LEVANT reception center in nyalla is a center that welcomes children with autism. Run by Sisters, it welcomes around ten children, all from families who have made the decision to entrust them to the center, due to their inability to take care of the child or manage his sometimes unpredictable moods.

            On March 5, 2023, we had the grace to live this other experience, with these children, very friendly and sociable, although limited in their mental and motor skills. With them we discovered love from other angles, a true and uninteresting love. They love and want to be loved, they are helpful, despite their delay in assimilation, they are strong and yet very affectionate.

           With these children, we sang, danced, we laughed, we talked, we introduced ourselves to them, they did so in return, they loved their Gifts, brought them back inside, and told us thank you. We learned from these children that Autism is not a disease, much less contagious, but rather a neurological disorder that affects their development, behavior and language. However, they remain beings in their own right, who just need more assistance and love like everyone else.

              With their help, we listed their needs, listing their weekly activities, we visited their dormitories and at the end despite crying, we were able to say goodbye, hoping to see each other again in a short time. It was beautiful and joyful, moving and instructive. A great experience that motivates us for the future.
