Harmonizing Dreams: Graace International Foundation’s First Music Training Initiative for Young Talent
Among its main objectives to achieve, the Graace International Foundation association notes the possibility for each young person to be educated, trained in a profession, an Art. This is what justifies the first edition that it launched on training in art professions, particularly here targeting music. To do this, it was a question of identifying children (from 5 to 14 years old) who have a love of music, in order to give them the basics regarding musical instruments, in particular, the drums, the piano and the guitar.
At the beginning of this training, the children were all focused on the music itself, but had no idea of the basics, the instruments and so on… but some were interested more than others in this or that instrument. The very professional supervisors therefore presented the 3 above-mentioned instruments to them in a simple but clear manner. Each in turn, according to a well-respected time schedule, therefore moved on to the learning exercise according to the teaching given to them.
Between class times and breaks, the very enthusiastic learners made us laugh, dream and above all showed us their determination to want to learn. They gave us the motivation to continue. Through their shortcomings, their responses also during the question and answer exercise to which they were willing to participate, we discovered people with needs, but who lacked the means to achieve them. Many of them had long dreamed of playing a musical instrument, but did not have the opportunity to do so, so they were content to mime sounds that they listened to continuously, ignoring which instruments were played to make the melody beautiful. This experience for them was unique in its kind, the supervisors very welcoming and patient, the setting clean and spacious, the instruments within their reach, what more for unequivocal speed of understanding? It was just good. See their wonder, their desire to come back for another edition…Even more joy, laughter, hope, a new story for these children, which will undoubtedly change their vision of musical art, that’s all our wish for the future.
